The popularity of amiibo is undeniable: some of the first and second wave, as Villager, Captain Falcon, Little Mac and Wii Fit Trainer are almost impossible to find, unless you get on auction sites and resales, where price rises nearly 5 times its original value.
Because of this, players expect the third wave of figures, which come between late January and early February, will experience the same phenomenon, so they decided to acquire presale. Again, demand has been so great that such amiibo already sold out in much of the United States, without ever having gone on sale.
What happened now is that several shops exclusively of certain figures halted preorders, and that probably means exhausted the number of amiibos available. Some exceptions are Bowser and Toon Link, which can still be found in the online site of Walmart.
Recall that the departure of most amiibo the third round, corresponding to Lucario (exclusive to Toys R Us), Rosalina (Target exclusive), Bowser, Toon Link, Sheik, Ike, Meta Knight (exclusive of Best Buy) and King Dedede is the January 22, while the rest, ie Shulk, Sonic and Mega Man will be available sometime in early February..
