China puts an end to the ban on sales of consoles
After 15 years of banning video game consoles in China, today, the Ministry of Culture of the country, announced that companies like Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and more, can now make and sell game consoles in this territory.
It was since 2000 that China banned the sale of consoles, because it was feared that video games have a negative effect on the mental and physical development of children. It was during 2014 that China began to become more flexible in these restrictions by allowing companies to sell their products in an area of about 18 square kilometers of Shanghai, in the area known as free trade.
These limitations hindered the growth, development and distribution of video game manufacturers, passing through control schemes and limiting the sale of software.
For 15 years, Chinese consumers chose PC games, mobile and online. So from now on, companies can compete freely consoles on the market, although they will face strong competition.
No doubt, this will be a good news for Microsoft and Sony, who have had a dismal performance in China, where analysts suggest that the ban in that country AAA titles slowing down the growth of the industry.
