Namco Bandai celebrates a fiscal year of excellent results
Namco Bandai, the Japanese Company has announced its financial results for the past fiscal year, which ended on March 31, which obtained the best profit for the last five years.
Sales totaled almost 490 billion yen (479 million US dollars), up 7.3% from the previous year. Most of this revenue comes from its content division, including subsidiary dedicated to video games, where revenues grew 17% over the previous year, while operating profit rose nothing more and nothing less than 114%. The best-selling games of the year were Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (1,500,000 units), Soulcalibur V (1,050,000 units) and and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 in Europe and U.S. (1,000,000 units).
For this fiscal year, the company expects a reduction of 20% in net income. The reason for this is that plans to release fewer titles during this period: 168 games in fiscal 2014, with sales expected amount to 22,500,000 units, compared to 282 that launched last fiscal year, which sold 24.6 million units.
