Ori and the Blind Forest is a title by Moon Studios with various veteran developers from around the world which debuts at the hands of Microsoft.
Moon Studios was commissioned to deliver the authentic beauty of entertainment, which is clearly inspired by some of the most acclaimed games of all history. In short, in a somewhat superficial, we can say that Ori and The Blind Forest is a 2D platformer. Its balance between these two genres, is perfectly blended with an emotional story which in turn, rests in a direction of more than outstanding art and music that will make you vibrate at all times.
The situation of the stories within the game live times of ups and downs. In this title, is not looking to find the black thread of the narrative, however, special emphasis is placed on maintaining interested users, this despite the very nature of genre, narrative has to be compromised in some Thus, for the events we are counting through gameplay. That case is applauded by many of us, while lovers and controlled much more cinematic experience, may have problems.
The Blind Forest commitment to a well-known spot, telling a tragic fairy tale in which a huge disaster that destroys a beautiful world that we have to rescue occurs. The relationship between our main character and the other individual Porky is narrow and very emotional. Not break anything in this section, we tell you that the story is being told by a mystical voice speaking in an unknown language, while English titles are written with elegant and sophisticated words that get wonderfully dive into the experience. On several occasions I was coming to mind prose dialogues saw in Child of Light.
If you are lovers of this type of stories, we assure you that this title shall fulfill in good shape. The identity of Ori, our hero, is also quite mysterious, but you can anticipate that is a being who suffers constant losses which always looks in compromising situations must overcome in one way or another.
The first thing that jumps out as Ori and The Blind Forest begins to run, is its beautiful art direction. Each of the scenarios we travel with our skillful character, perfectly detailed. All points feel alive and as if they had been many years before we arrived. The job at hand to illustrate each of the areas, characters and enemies you see, do nothing but remind us why it is that we love so much this means of entertainment which, for many of us, it is true art should be recognized as such.
To top all this, The Blind Forest delights us with a beautiful fully orchestrated score. Musical notes in which we hear in each of his scenes, work perfectly for that atmosphere feels deeply and completely believable. The Melancholy of several of his songs made love with everything he saw on the screen, while parties of more action, strings reverberate for raising the tension and adrenaline to make each of our jumps correctly.
As discussed above, each of the areas you travel in Ori and The Blind Forest, feels as if he really existed, at least in the mind of one of the most creative novelists of all time. In addition to delight us with their aesthetic beauty, the game levels presented as outstanding design, costing me a lot of work to find the necessary adjectives to do it justice.
In Ori and The Blind Forest have a huge interconnected world? Each of the areas are well delimited doors must be opened with some scattered in various areas stones, but somehow, each piece feels like part of a whole, a matter which in my opinion, is for others laudable, especially at this time when we see a huge amount of very mediocre open world games.
The title is divided into three main areas. Each contains a special element that we collected during the progress, much like The Legend of Zelda. As part of such a marked gender, The Blind Forest presents some back tracking, a situation that was taken with a truly outstanding approach. At no time did I feel bored or disappointed at having to return to a certain area.
The gameplay mechanics and design of the game give Ori a boost. That case was succeeded brilliantly in The Blind Forest. For example, there is a section where you have to go through portals that transport you to different areas of the screen, this clear, with a fraction of a second to know what part you will leave to make the right move and thus avoid sticking with spikes surrounding the area in which we find ourselves. This is just a small piece of everything we see through the wonderful adventure. No more story, because I think it’s best to be surprised by yourself.
In The Blind Forest costs to record our progress, however, there are very few points that can be saved without paying anything, much like the Metroid control rooms. Returning to the above, all this has a value that is probably not so simple to do, because we are facing a truly difficult title.
Despite being a game very focused on the part of the platforms, exploration plays a very important role. Whenever you want to record at some point on the map to avoid repeating such a thing, you must pay an Energy Cell, the unit can be expanded to find hidden containers, like the Life Cell. The usefulness of this element not only serves to create a checkpoint, but also is required to make use of the various skills Ori, so decide when recording, is paramount. Do not be dismayed, for all this far to make the game even more complicated, provides a freedom that is appreciated in every way.
Early in the game, your character only has the ability to jump, however, and as happens with the titles of its kind, will be gaining various skills that gradually make us feel more powerful and agile. The small size of Ori can play sometimes against us, because in the scenes where the reflections are very important, you get lost in the middle of all the action. This may affect, but never spoils the experience or anything, it’s just so we can be more aware of everything around us.
Of all the powers Ori obtained over time, is the double jump, a dash down hurtful or sheet to float in the air, among others. Each introduces a new mechanic, each more complex and more interesting than the last. I would highlight one in particular: the power to make an air dash in specific situations, opens a huge range of possibilities. For example, our little character could only use this skill when you are near a shell or lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The most interesting is what we can bounce launches this by directing the jump with the left stick.
Like I said a moment ago, each of the mechanics are significantly highlighted by the incredible level design that presents the game. Other points I enjoyed most is the theme of Wall Jump and complete walls to climb without limits. This gives a feeling of very remarkable agility element that I think should be very present throughout 2D platform game.
Combat is another point that early in the game, seems the most simplistic and no joke thing, however, with the passing of each scene is taking more relevant. Each of the enemies you see in Ori is designed to finish us not just to be another obstacle in our way. The little white character has the ability to shoot rays, which, automatically impact on the threat that is close. Our positioning is very important to do the most damage, so this feature on the surface is quite simple, becomes surprisingly deep, especially when you take into account how fragile little light being.
Major mechanical and outstanding level design simply would not be anything without a functioning control, especially if we are talking about a 2D platformer. For easier display, make a game of this type function properly by other complicated, since the use of a physics engine ruin everything. Every jump and every movement of The Blind Forest is perfectly calculated. Each time you die in this title shall be your fault anyone else. Staying true to its design school very inspired by Nintendo, each element you see on screen, has a purpose, nothing is there anything else because.
There is another time when we have to go up as a curious creature pulls us stones, which we have to dodge very accurately. Adrenaline is more than present in these parts, but it cannot record until you reach the goal. I assure you that if you miss that empty feeling in the stomach of nerves by being very close to reaching the end, and be afraid of making a mistake, Ori and The Blind Forest will take you back to those great moments.
The experience in The Blind Forest game is completely round; however, out there say that nothing is perfect. During my time with the game, I had a couple of problems to boot into Xbox One. I do not know if this will happen again more often. I recommend you also wait for the game to fully discharge before you start playing, as there are points where the screen froze.
Ori and The Blind Forest is a brilliant title masterfully fulfills each of its objectives, being another example of that small or independent studios, are those who bear the responsibility to make this media to move forward through of his own essence. Increasingly more and more difficult to see games that succeed have a solid gameplay, with an interesting narrative, an issue that is achieved in this wonderful work of Moon Studios. The Blind Forest is an opportunity you simply cannot miss.
