Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is completely multiplayer, both online and local, so no campaign. The game modes are divided into 3: Garden Ops, a classic game in which plants defend your tower from the zombies, for what is worth both the skills of each class as plant support work as fixed turrets on stage, and designed to withstand 10 hordes of zombies. In the end, you must come to a collection point where Crazy Dave comes to rescue; it has 4 difficulty levels ranging from easy to insane, and despite being a aimed at a young audience game. This mode is also used for local split-screen multiplayer.
The third is multiplayer and includes 2 types with some variations. One is the classic Combat Team or Team deathmatch mode the first to 50 kills, and there is the freedom to choose which side you want to be, either the plants or the zombies, a variant of This mode is called “Welcome Mat,” a team death match for learners in which each time you die, your health increases. The other one is a bit more interesting Gardens & Cemeteries, a simplified version of Conquest similar to the one found in BF4, in the case of zombies, you have to take over the garden, while the plants, defend it. Whenever a garden is conquered, a new one must be defended at the end you reach an end point on the map where there is a special structure such as a lighthouse or sunflower Crazy Dave’s mansion. If you lose this last point, the zombies win, but if you can’t get enough points within 5 minutes, the the plants take the victory, here you can use additional support both turret plants and small groups of zombies you release map specific places, but unlike plants, their isn’t a limited to where you put them.
A peculiarity of Garden Warfare is that classes are not symmetric, ie, the abilities of plants and zombies are not equivalent, accuracy, load capacity and damage each character is unique and something similar happens with special skills. For example, we might consider that the sunflower and the scientist are the medical class of each team, but sunflower emits continuous burst shooting-like a machine gun with a capacity of 50 -, while the scientist uses a species whose 5-shot shotgun damage is greater but has little range, and while both the special ability is to place objects that heal their peers, the scientist launches sticky grenades, while sunflower is planted in the ground to launch a Continuous heat ray. This variety of skills makes us wonder about the balance of equipment and classes although it is too early to identify a specific advantage or disadvantage.
In addition to the 4 classes on each side, there is the ability to play as Crazy Dave or Dr. Zomboss, who act quite differently, as they fly around the map dropping bombs at enemies or healing allies, this means an interface designed for tablets where you collect brains or soles-as the case-to buy weapons or rations in order to help your comrades in the battlefield. Experience with this class is extremely passive and only occasionally truly influence the outcome of the contest.
As is already making custom EA games within this title is arranged in a space that someday will be implemented microtransactions. As in Battlefield 4 battlepacks we, here we have trading cards, ie, cards envelopes, randomly, providing weapons, abilities, customization features, and most importantly, consumables. These cards are not hard to get and you can buy with coins you get during the game, although more expensive than other envelopes, they include best cards. As for the plants and zombies employ reinforcement during games, there is a great variety in both cases all came out of the tower defense titles, and each has special skills that you must know to be more effective.
Surely, this is the title of PopCap with higher production values so far. For its development, the Frozebite engine 3 was used, providing a realistic look to the game, well-defined textures and lighting effects, added to an excellent art direction, resulting in levels and characters polished and detailed. The music is also excellent: there are new new arrangements of classic tracks Laura Shigihara and printed perfectly the comic tone of the game. The title seeks to simpler gaming experience, so that the data on the screen are minimal, something we take for granted in shooters, for example, the map is replaced here by heads permanently mark the location of the enemy.
However, this simplification is not always accurate, since the selection of characters have no data damage, resistance or firepower of each, both of which are only discovered while playing. On the other hand, the main menu does not distinguish between major and minor options, a situation that is similar to matchmaking, which looks dated and that, being a game aimed at children, should have an option to take direct action without choosing anything.
