NPD Group released its monthly report on sales of video game hardware and software, and we now know that PlayStation 4 was the best selling console last month, but the entire industry reduced its performance compared to April 2015.
To start, selling set of hardware, physical software and accessories fell 15% last month, from $598.1 in April 2015 to $509.5 in 2016. Regardless, hardware sales fell 23%, from $183.7 the $142.1 passed in April 2016 year.
As mentioned by NPD Group, declining console sales is not linked solely to the limited relevance of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 at this time, but a combination of discounts and rumors about the possible arrival of improved Xbox One versions and PlayStation Four.
Regarding these declines, the analyst Liam Callahan NPD said that “we must keep in mind that the cumulative sales of Xbox One and PlayStatation 4 are 40% higher after 30 months on the market compared to their predecessors.”
Regarding Xbox One, Microsoft did not disclose details on the sale of the console, but remember that was in discount during the month of April, possibly it helped improve system performance. Nintendo, meanwhile, merely to give details about your software, but did not speak the Wii U.
